In coffee, the term ’Speciality’ refers to the highest grade of coffee. This applies to the whole supply chain; the farmers are knowledgeable and conscientious, paying close attention to each stage of the agricultural process. The Speciality Coffee Association sets out standards by which this quality of coffee must be produced, roasted and brewed. Our Speciality Solidarity Blend is made up of coffees that have been scored as speciality standard; you know that this is of the highest quality. We pay homage to the Solidarity Blend that served us and the local community so well during the lockdown.
The coffees that make up this 3-bean blend are some of the best available from Central and South America. The Brazilian coffee comes from a farm in the Minas Gerais region which is well known for the quality coffee it produces. The farm’s UTZ certification proves that they are committed to sustainable agricultural practices, good farm management and providing a good quality of life for their farm workers. This coffee provides the Speciality Solidarity Blend with its deep and rich chocolatey base.
The Colombian part of the blend is also available as a single origin. Handpicked and meticulously monitored, the sustainable farming practices used at the 60 smallholder farms that contribute to this coffee have been implemented successfully for many years. This coffee is grown at particularly high altitudes and it has developed characteristics that bring purity and brightness to the blend.
Finally, the Honduras Liquidámbar is from a cooperative passionate about organic coffee production. They turn waste from coffee production, such as pulp from the cherries, back into fertiliser for re-use on their crops. With a great diversity of coffee plants on the farm, this is a complex coffee which provides the blend with that ‘something special’.
All of our coffee is now in sold in the most sustainable carbon-neutral packaging. We use the new, innovative designs from Dutch Coffee Pack, which is made entirely of plastic that is 100% recyclable. All of the carbon emitted in the production of these bags is compensated in full by reducing emissions elsewhere without compromising the freshness of the coffee inside.
